The American team has once again managed to convincingly qualify for their 6th World Cup tournament in a row by topping their World Cup qualifying league. This will be USA’s 9th World Cup appearance of all time. The soccer team from USA maybe a power house in the North and Central American region but on a world stage they are still striving for everlasting glory. The best run that the American soccer team ever had was in South Korea and Japan in 2002 when they surprised everyone by reaching the Quarter finals of the tournament and then were knocked out by Germany.History is one thing that the American’s would like to ignore before they go into this tournament as that will do them no good. What they want to look back upon for confidence is their current success not only in their World Cup qualifying games but also in their recent success in the FIFA Confederations Cup which was held in South Africa in 2009 where the American’s finished second. . One of their biggest successes during this tournament was when they defeated cup favorites Spain in the semis. Then the Americans almost won the FIFA Confederations Cup when they were leading 2 – 0 in the finals against Brazil but were humbled by the Brazilians and lost 3-2 after full time. The current USA team looks strong and determined to prove a point that they can not only perform well against minnows like Barbados but soccer powerhouses like England. In fact, the English will be absolutely wary of the underrated USA after they caused an upset earlier. The American team that has come to South Africa looks strong. One of the most renowned and popular American soccer players is Landon Donovan. He has been playing for the famous LA Galaxy team for a long time and is rated as one of the best American strikers. There is no doubt in any American fans mind that he will be the man who can really take USA close to the title. However, it must be said that the American team doesn’t solely depend on Landon Donovan’s genius; there are some other players who will also showcase their talents in this tournaments, such as Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Oguchi Onyewu, Jozy Altidore and Tim Howard. Apart from playing for the national team all these players also have immense experience playing for different leagues on European soil. The American soccer team coach, who initially came in as a caretaker for the national team, soon became a success after winning 10 games in a row. Coach Bradley then continued his dream run by taking USA to the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009 in South Africa and then earning the second position in the tournament which all world cup betting took notice of.The odds on the World Cup betting board don’t look really good for the USA. On the World Cup betting charts USA is placed on the 13th position with the odds of 66/1. But the Americans will take heart in the fact that no tournament is won on paper or decided by World Cup betting odds. The USA is placed in Group C of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and has an excellent chance of qualifying for the knock out stages. Alongside the US are the good old English team who look to be the ones who may top the group, however, USA will feel good about their other two opponents Algeria and Slovenia who aren’t considered to be great threats in the group. Many people believe that the most important match of the Group C pool will be between USA and England. The reason being that whichever of the two teams wins this game will most likely top the Group and hold the advantage in the first knock out round. The Americans will start off their World Cup campaign on the 12th of June against their toughest group opponents England at Rustenburg. Are you ready for some World Cup betting ?
